Urinary Tract Infections Procedure

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common but can also be very painful.

The surgery has established a procedure to ensure that anyone suspected of having a UTI will get advice and/or medication as soon as possible.

To request an appointment, please click here. Please give as much information as possible when submitting a request.

There are two categories for advice, appointments or medication:

  • If you are in the age range of 12-64, you will be placed on the daily telephone list for a nurse practitioner/GP to contact you and advise. You do not need to bring in an initial sample to the surgery to be tested.
  • If you are a male patient under 12 or over 65 and have any of the below symptoms, you will be offered an appointment with the same day team. This could be a nurse practitioner, GP registrar or GP.
    • Fever
    • Shaking
    • Vomiting
    • Feeling sick/nausea
    • Sudden onset
    • Loin pain (sides of back only came on with illness)
